NSC contract employees had padlocked the main entrance of the council for an indefinite period beginning Tuesday putting forward various demands -- extension of already expired contract of the employees, equal perks and benefits as the permanent employees and extension of contract for one year rather than three months.
The struggle committee had given a five days ultimatum to address their demands. The ultimatum expires Sunday. “We discussed our issues with Minster for Youth and Sports Gopal Tiwari Nepali, member secretary Bishnu Lamsal time and again after padlocking the NSC but they were not serious about our demands,” said the coordinator of the struggle committee Gopal Mali during a press meet Saturday.
On the occasion he said 305 NSC staffers were hired on contract basis and some of them were working there on contract basis for about two decades and there are 100 vacant seats for permanent staffs.
“Our first and the only one demand at present is extension letter for those whose contracts have expired. We will remove the lock from the gates only if this demand is fulfilled," Mali said.
