SNPL hands over awards worth more than Rs 5m

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Spice Nepal Private Limited (SNPL), the operator of Mero Mobile, on Tuesday handed over awards worth more than five million rupees to three individuals who had participated in the company´s ´Mero Jindagi: Sajilo, Ramailo and Gahakilo´ promotional campaign.

Under the campaign, Ganga Devi Thada Magar of Nawalparasi won an apartment worth Rs 3.2 million in Sun City Apartment and an additional Rs 800,000 to furnish the space.

"To lessen the financial burden on the winner, the liability of paying the tax amount of 25 percent on the windfall gain has also been taken by the company," Prasanna Adhikari, sales director, SNPL, told mediapersons. The company claims that this is the biggest award handed over to any individual in Nepal under a promotional campaign.

Likewise, Manju Chalise of Dillibazar and Padam Bahadur Ale of Narayanghat won a motorcycle each.

All the winners were selected through a lucky draw held around two weeks ago.

The country´s first privately-run cell phone company had launched the campaign around three and a half months ago. Around 450,000 customers of SNPL had participated in the campaign.

During the period, Spice Nepal also gave away Rs 5,555 worth of recharge amounts to 77 clients, who had topped up Rs 500 on the day they purchased the company´s SIM cards. These winners were also selected through lucky draws.

Spice Nepal currently has a customer base of around 1.85 million and earns an average of around $4 from each of its customers per month.
