'NRB making efforts to promote agri sector'

JANAKPUR, Jan 16: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said the central bank was making efforts to encourage commercial banks to extend credit to the agriculture sector. Khatiwada also stated that the farm revolution was an effective tool to achieve faster economic development in the country.



"The NRB has adopted a policy to prioritize investment in agriculture," said Khatiwada, after inaugurating a newly constructed building of Small Farmers Agriculture Cooperatives in Digamberpur of Dhanusha district on Wednesday. [break]



He also assured that NRB, as the government´s financial advisor, would take initiative to provide fair prices to farmers for their produces.
