NPC Vice-chairman Devkota resign

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota resigned his post Friday saying that he wants to pave way for the formation of new NPC team following the change in government.



Along with Devkota, NPC members inlcuding Prem Kunwar and Ram Kumar Sharma also submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, the chairman of the NPC. “We submitted our resignation in order to facilitate the new government in its work,” said Dr Devkota.[break]



Talking to the press after submitting his resignation, Dr Devkota said the country direly needs a good investment climate and manufacturing environment for achieving higher economic growth. He also viewed that the country needs a 20-year vision document for development.



However, Subodh Narayan Jha, who was appointed NPC member by Madeshi People´s Rights Forum, has not tendered his resignation. The NPC has eight members including the chairman. Devkota was appointed vice-chairman after Dr Jagadish Pokharel resigned.
