From among the songs and albums registered from April 2011 to April 2012 on Hits FM 91.2, music artistes have been nominated in 19 different categories – Best New Artist, Best Song Originally Recorded for a Motion Picture Soundtrack, Best Vocal Collaboration, Best Female Vocal Performance Pop, Best Male Vocal Performance Pop, Best Performance by Group or Duo with Vocal, Folk Record of the Year, Folk Album of the Year, Best Pop Composition, Best Rock Composition, Best Arrangement, Best Composition, Best Rock Vocal Performance, Best Female Vocal Performance, Best Male Vocal Performance, Pop/Rock Album of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year – apart from the Lifetime Achievement Award.[break]
Hits FM Music Awards – started 15 years ago – had awards in seven different categories. New categories have been added every few years since.
“Hits FM Music Awards is not a competition; the winner of an award is only representing the category, we are all celebrating the success of Nepali music industry and how far we’ve come,” said Program Director of Hits FM Music Awards, Mandira Dhungel.
The date for the final event and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award are yet to be announced but the organizers said the finale will probably be held before the third week of January 2013.
