According to an NOC official, NOC´s Thankot depot supplied 166,000 liters of petrol and 179,000 liters of diesel to different pumps in the capital on Monday.[break]
The corporation increased supply quota to institutional pumps after Petroleum Dealers Association and tanker drivers halted fuel supply to protest murder of Ahmed Devan, a tanker driver, about a week ago while he was on his duty at Baireni. His body was found Saturday only.
Tanker drivers have halted fuel supply, demanding compensation of Rs 2.5 million to family of the victim.
“We are trying to east the supply. The agitating side (petroleum dealers) has also agreed to sit for talks,” said Deepak Subedi, joint secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies. He also said dealers have showed readiness to bring fuel from India from Tuesday.
All the petrol pumps in the capital remained closed on Saturday. Only the institutional pumps supplied fuel on Sunday and Monday. From Monday evening, a few privately operated pumps started supplying fuel.
