NOC regional manager held captive by Madhesi protestors

BIRGUNJ, Oct 5: Nepal Oil Corporation's regional manager in Birgunj, Ashok Sah, was detained by Madhesi Forum protestors Monday morning and was held captive for four hours. He was also forced to join sit-in protest with them.

Sah was subdued by the agitators while he was on his way to meet Indian Oil Corporation officials at Raxaul-Birgunj border checkpoint to discuss matters related to petroleum shortage.Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal's Parsa district chairman Pradeep Yadav said that Sah was freed after he reluctantly agreed to participate in the protest for four hours in Raxaul.

According to reports, protestors wanted to hand Sah over to the district administration but Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire refused take Sah into custody. Instead, CDO Ghimire expressed his anger over the 'nonsense act' by the protestors.

Protestors later freed him after warning him not to make any more attempts to get fuel in through the border.

Ghimire informed that Sah was in good condition after he was freed by the protestors.
