KATHMANDU, April 13: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday said the new constitution would not be promulgated without completing the peace process.

Talking to reporters at a tea party organized by former presidents of Nepal Students Union (NSU), Deuba said, “The crisis would not be solved without completing the peace process even if the constitution is promulgated.” He, however, said the peace process and constitution drafting would be completed on time if the Maoists abided by the past agreements.

Acting NC President Sushil Koirala rubbished rumors about the extension of the deadline for constitution drafting. “The constitution can be promulgated on time if the Maoists behave responsibly,” he said.

Koirala also dismissed the rumors about change of government in the near future. “The current government will not be changed at this juncture,” he said.
