Mandal was elected from constituency number 4 of Morang in the erstwhile Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
"I am joining SP as the party has a 20-year long history and committed to the cause of Madhes," Mandal told Republica.
However, he accused other Madhes based parties of being engaged in fulfilling personal ambitions. Mandal claimed that Mahato-led party was only a party working for the cause of Madhesh.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Prime Minister Badri Mandal is also joining SP today itself at the program to be organized in Biratnagar, according Sanjay Sah, SP Vice Chairman.
Earlier in the month, various leaders from different parties including noted four Tarai-based armed groups, Limbuwan Mukti Morcha Nepal had also joined Mahato-led party.
