Newly-wed woman murdered over dowry

MAHOTTARI, April 6: A newly-wed woman has been killed in Mahottari district over dispute related to dowry.



Parameshwar Saha Teli, a resident of Siswakataiya Village Development Committee (VDC)-6 in the district, at a press conference, accused Naresh Saha and members of his family of murdering his daughter Rikidevi Saha, 20, for not bringing dowry.



Teli said his son-in-law Naresh Saha and Saha’s mother, father and brother strangulated his daughter to death on the night of 30 March and hanged the body to make it appear like a suicide.



Meanwhile, a youth killed his sister-in-law over a minor altercation with her at Silanga VDC-8, Baitadi.



According to the Area Police Office, Patan, 17-year-old Laxman Panta hacked to death his sister-in-law Kalawati Panta, 30, on March 31.



The woman had gone missing since March 31 and her decomposed body was found five days later. It was found buried near the house.
