Neupane, Maharjan in QF

KATHMANDU, June 21: Sandeep Neupane set up a quarterfinal showdown with Suraj Maharjan in the men´s singles of the Open Men´s Badminton Tournament winning their respective matches on Tuesday.



Neupane defeated Bhim Bahadur Thapa 21-14, 21-13 while Maharjan received a walkover from Naresh Tamrakar. [break]



In the other quarterfinals, Sunil Ratna Barahi faces Rajesh Shakya, Kishor Bhattarai meets Raju Bajracharya while Sandeep Shakya will face Kamal Shakya.



In the men´s double category, the pairs of Roshan Rai and Mukti Gurung will face Kishor Byanjankar and Suraj Maharjan. Kamal Shakya and Mitra Joshi will meet Jackson Shrestha and Kamalendra Shrestha, Birendra Shrestha and Gyanendra Sipahi will compete against Sunil Shrestha and Rajendra Shrestha. Sudeep Budathoki and Rakesh Singh will face Akash Shrestha and Subash Shrestha.



Meanwhile, Anil Bikram Shah and Ganesh Subba, Ramesh Krishna Dangol and Devendra Bharat, Milan Rajbhandari and Mana Bista, Tulsi Maharjan and Mani Limbu, Govinda Maharjan and Narbel KC, Mohan Bahadur Shahi and JB Chand have qualified for the quarterfinals of the veteran´s doubles after winning their respective first and second round matches.
