Officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi had advised students to observe special caution, carry their IDs with them and avoid unnecessary travels. “We are in touch with Nepali students studying there. No one is hurt so far,” said MoFA Spokesperson Arjun Bahadur Thapa. [break]
Thapa said they have also advised the students to travel in group if they have any urgent works. “The threat is not aimed at Nepali nationals. There is no need to panic due to unnecessary rumor about violence,” he said.
Shortly after the rumours of violence earlier last week, Acting Nepali Ambassador Khaga Nath Adhikari had met officials at Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and sought security of Nepali students studying in southern Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai. “Indian side has assured us of security to Nepalese nationals living there,” Thapa further said. “Our embassy in New Delhi is also in touch with local administration.”
Meanwhile, Nepali embassy and Nepali students based in various Indian cities have asked Nepali student or workers to contact the following persons in cases they face in any problem.
