Nepali embassy in Japan to resume work from Tokyo

KATHMANDU, April 15: The Nepali embassy in Japan that was shifted earlier to Osaka amid radiation fears from Fukushima power plant is set begin work from its office in Tokyo from Monday.



According to a press release issued by Nepali embassy in Japan, it will take a week, until April 25, for all its functions including consular, passport and visa services to come into full operation from Tokyo. [break]



On March 18, the embassy had been moved from Tokyo to Osaka amid fear of possible health threats caused by radioactive materials released after a powerful explosion of a nuclear reactor in Phukusima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)´s decided to move the embassy to a safer location came after Western countries started evacuating their nationals and moving their embassies to safer sites in the aftermath of the radiation leakage from Fukushima Power Station following a tsunami triggered by a massive earthquake.
