Nepali documentary wins an award in New York

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: ´Naobhayeka ankha´ a documentary based on 10-year-long people´s war in the country has won an international award.



The documentary jointly directed by journalists Arjun Dev Joshi, Mahananda Timilsena and Bhola Acharya won the award of ´Best Political Documentary´ during International Film Festival held in New York out of around 200 films.



The award will be handed over amid a special programme in February, said Acharya. The documentary is all about the start of people´s war, reasons of the way, people´s travails and the rise of the Unified CPN (Maoist) after the end of the armed conflict.



The 2.19-hour-long documentary was made in two years by Global Media Network, said its Executive Director Shiva Acharya.
