KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Nepal was one of the key attractions at the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) 2016 organized in Tel Aviv, Israel, from February 9 to 10.

The  golden Everest was the highlight of the Nepal counter at the IMTM, which was organized in TLV Convention Center, in Tel Aviv of Israel, according to a statement issued by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). "The Nepal stall also showcased adventure and cultural experiences," the statement said, adding that the participants and other international counterparts were intrigued by Nepal.

The Nepali team also highlighted the country as a safe, encouraging and exotic destination.

On the occasion, Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization (ZDVO), led by Vered Roth, announced the plan to organize a trip for about 60 war-wounded soldiers to Nepal in March 2016. The team plans to visit Langtang region which was the most affected tourism destinations affected by the April earthquake. "Nepal was the chosen destination because the soldiers wanted to meet those affected by the earthquake and to offer what support they could," Roth said at the program.

The 22nd IMTM 2016 hosted representatives from 50 countries. According to the statement, IMTM is intended for everyone engaged in the tourism industry. The exhibition included meetings and conventions attended by hundreds of decision-makers from around the world. The exhibition offers a growing presence to innovative technologies that are reshaping the tourism industry, added the statement.
