Nepal thumps Kuwait in friendly

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: With four goals from striker Anu Lama, Nepali national women football team thumped host Kuwat 8-0 on Saturday in an international friendly match played at Al Qadisiya Stadium in Kuwait.



With her four goals, Lama took her international goal tally to 25 goals and leveled goal scoring record with highest scorer Jamuna Gurung. Lama scored in the 8th, 18th, 63rd and 66th minutes.[break]



Despite including Gurung in the squad she did not play against Kuwait due to knee injury she picked during National Women’s League held a month earlier in Dhangadhi, Kailali.



According to goalnepal.com, Sajana Rana gave very first-minute lead to Nepal while Laxmi Paudel netted fourth goal in the 41st minute following second and third goal from Lama.



Deepa Adhikari scored in the 44th minute as Nepal took five goals lead before the interval. Lama scored the sixth and seventh goals before skipper Chandra Bhandari wrapped up the match in the 69th minute.



Nepal is in Kuwait to play two friendly matches. The other match will be played on Monday. This is the first official international friendly match played by Nepali women football team.
