KATHMANDU, March 4: Bangladesh defeated Nepal by 2-0 in their second match of the AFC Challenge Cup Group D Qualifiers at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday, with the visiting team scoring its first goal in the 27th minute on a penalty kick and the second goal in the 57th minute.
In the other match played today, Palestine beat the Northern Mariana Island by a huge margin of 9-0. Palestine had defeated Bangladesh 1-0 while Nepal had outplayed the NMI 6-0 in their opening matches. [break]
Bangladesh has a superior head-to-head record against Nepal. Out of their 14 encounters till date, Nepal has won four, lost nine and played a draw. The last match between the two teams, an international friendly played in Kathmandu in September, 2012, ended 1-1.
