Nepal humbled in basketball W C'ship

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Nepal lost all its matches in the first 3x3 Youth World Championship in Rimini, Italy. Nepal suffered humiliating defeat against Germany and New Zealand on Saturday. Nepal had lost all of its matches earlier Friday--the opening day of the tournament--to Canada, England, Latvia, Turkey, Romania and Japan.



On Saturday, Germany defeated Nepal 21-12 in the first match. Sujan Pun was the highest scorer with six points. [break]Nepal was also humbled down to 21-5 by New Zealand in the day´s other match.



Earlier, Nepal managed to score nine points against 21 of Canada in the opening match of the championship. Bijay Purja was the highest scorer for Nepal with six points.



In the second match, Nepal lost to England 21-10, during which Pun had scored four points. Latvia thrashed Nepal 21-2 in the third match and Nepal lost to Turkey 21-14 in the fourth match.



Nepal was defeated by Romania 20-8 in the fifth match. Norbu Tshring Lama was the highest scorer for Nepal. In the last match of the first day, Japan had defeated Nepal 21-13.
