Nepal, who are slated in group ´A´ of the tournament, defeated defending champions Hong Kong by 118 runs while they thrashed Oman and Singapore by 6 and 7 wickets respectively. Nepal will take on hosts Kuwait on Tuesday and if they win, they will be the group winners.

Meanwhile, Vice-captain of Nepali cricket team Gyanendra Malla finally got the visa to Kuwait on Sunday. Gyanendra´s visa application was earlier rejected by Kuwait due to which he could not participate in the ACC Elite Trophy. Gyanendra is flying to Kuwait on Monday and will be in the squad.

“We talked with the Asian Cricket Council and the hosts. They assured us that Malla could join the squad and play the rest of the matches,” said Tarak Mani Dixit, the secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Naresh Budhaair, who had replaced Malla, will also be in the Nepali squad.

CAN has expressed concern over denial of visa to Malla by Kuwait.
