Nepal beats Denmark by 25-run, qualifies for div three

KATHMANDU, Sept 9:
Nepal registered fifth win in a row, defeating Denmark by 25 runs (on D/L method) at a rain-truncated match in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 Cricket Tournament at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday.



With today’s victory, Nepal has also booked the place in division three securing the first place in the division four.[break]



Earlier, after winning toss and electing to bat first, Nepal made 240 runs in 50 overs losing its all wickets. Opening batsman Anil Mandal scored 113 runs to help Nepal to post a challenging total against Denmark.



This is the second century by Nepali batsman in this tournament. Subash Khakurel had scored 115 runs against USA on Friday’s match. However, Khakurel could not repeat the performance today as he lost his wicket in the second ball of the innings without scoring.



Sharad Vesawkar made 27 runs while Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla scored 26 runs. Basanta Regmi and Binod Das also contributed 21 and 15 runs respectively.



Chasing a victory target of 241, Denmark was 77 for 3 wickets when rain interrupted play, after 25 overs.



Denmark was given a revised target of 156 in 31 overs. However, they failed to chase and only made 130 for 9 as they lost their wickets in quick succession towards the end.



Skipper Paras Khadka grabbed four wickets while Sanjam Regmi and Basanta Regmi took two wickets each. Shakti Gauchan also bagged a wicket.
