NC's Madhes leaders suggest amendments to statute

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders and lawmakers representing different Tarai-Madhes districts have put forward three suggestions for amending the new constitution to address the Tarai-Madhes protest.



A meeting of NC's Tarai-Madhes Department on Monday suggested for making revisions on the provisions related to the delineation of provinces, keeping in view of the NC's party official line.

According to the chief of the department, Umakanta Chaudhari, the meeting has also decided to suggest ensuring inclusive and proportional representation in each and every organs of state, reinstating the provision of interim constitution for determining constituencies based on representation of population.


Similarly, NC's lawmakers and leaders from Tarai-Madhes have asked for seeking solutions to the existing crisis in the country through dialogue without any delay. Forwarding the decision to the party President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Monday, the leaders have asked him to solve the crisis through talks.
