NC to focus on Tarai

KATHMANDU, Feb 29: The leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have stressed on the need to expand their party´s focus in the Tarai region to strengthen the party´s base there. They expressed such views during discussion with the party leaders from the Tarai.



"We discussed the party´s weak performance in Tarai during the 2008 CA elections and exchanged views about what needs to be done to make a comeback," said lawmaker from the NC Ram Krishna Yadav, who participated in the discussions held by the NC´s department of policy-making and training. Party vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel, who heads the department, had asked for suggestions from the party´s leaders from the Tarai to improve the party´s organizational base in the Tarai region.



"The leaders stated that the party has always been a vehicle of change and that it should raise the issues that improve the lives of people in the region," said Yadav.



There was a consensus among leaders that the party should increase its activities in the Tarai to improve its organizational base in the region.
