KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The closed-door session of the Nepali Congress (NC) Special General Convention, called by a faction supporting the convention, began on Monday, marking the second day of the event that started on Sunday.
The Convention’s Publicity Committee said at a press conference that the session began a short while ago at a hall in Bhrikutimandap. The session is being chaired by senior convention representative and NC leader from Kathmandu Constituency-5, 88-year-old Shyam Kumar Khadka.

According to Publicity Committee Coordinator Subas Pokhrel, the convention procedures prepared by the convention-supporting faction will be read out by legal expert and convention representative Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. Likewise, Kishor Datta Baral, President of NC Kaski chapter NC, will facilitate the proceedings of the closed-door session.
During the session, NC General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma are scheduled to present two separate proposals. The proposals include a political review, internal party procedures, amendments to the party statute, and structural reforms.
Pokhrel said the proposals presented by the general secretaries will be discussed in nine separate groups, after which conclusions will be drawn.
