KATHMANDU, July 31: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) obstructed parliamentary proceedings for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday demanding resignation of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.

Prime Minister Khanal had agreed to tender his resignation in the five-point deal reached between the major three parties on May 28. [break]

The probe report on the leakage of the budget content was scheduled to be tabled at the meeting. Laxman Ghimire, Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress who heads the probe panel, submitted the report to CA chairman at the House secretariat earlier today.

NC had been strongly presenting itself in parliament for the implementation of the five-point deal.

The next House meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday at 3 p.m.
