NC General Secretaries skip emergency CWEC meeting

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishw Prakash Sharma did not attend the party’s emergency Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) meeting.



The meeting called on Saturday morning at the party’s central office in Sanepa saw both general secretaries absent. Sources say the duo boycotted the meeting amid growing dissatisfaction with the party leadership.

Central leaders, members, invited participants, and chairs from all seven provinces had been invited to attend. However, expressing dissent over the party’s functioning and leadership style, Thapa and Sharma did not show up.


Instead, the two general secretaries have been advancing the process of a “Special Convention” in parallel. They have announced that the special convention will be held on January 11 and 12.
