DHANGADHI, Dec 16: Chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP), Surya Bahadur Thapa, said the nationalistic and democratic forces united from the unification campaign of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and RJP would give a new political direction to the country.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, former Prime Minister Thapa blamed that the major political parties have failed to give leadership and that the new democratic force would lead the nation to a right track.[break]

Thapa, who is also former Prime Minister and arrived in the party unification campaign in Dhangadhi, while responding a query from the media persons claimed that now it is the turn of the Nepali Congress to lead the government as per the five-point deal of the past.

He said the political parties should forge consensus to make holding the Constituent Assembly election possible adding that the contemporary political and constitutional crisis could be ended through political consensus only.

During the press conference, RPP Chairman, Pashupati Shumsher Rana, said the unification campaign of the RPP and RJP was guided from the objective of strengthening the nationalistic and democratic forces.

RPP is now clearly in favour of the republic though it had tried to seek middle way between the republican and Monarchial system, but it was impossible.
