NASA continue winning streak

KATHMANDU, July 23: NASA International continued with their winning streak on Friday under men´s section in the Morgan Cup Eighth Women´s and Ninth Men´s National Basketball Tournament being held at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall.



To register their third victory in a row, NASA outplayed White House B 97-43. NASA were ahead in the first two quarters 31-5, 26-11 but were back in the third 13-15. They again caught their tune in the last quarter and led 27-12 to wrap up the match. Robin Khatri top scored with 38 points for NASA. [break]



Earlier, in group D league matches, NASA had defeated Premier and Prime. Now, NASA will take on Nepal Army in their last league match.



In other matches of the day under men´s section, champions Golden Gate, Pentagon and Revolver emerged victorious.



Taking an easy control in the match from the beginning, Golden Gate hammered Naya Bazar 119-29. Bipendra Maharjan contributed 28 points as Golden Gate led all quarters 27-8, 21-2, 36-8, 35-11.







Pentagon eased past Nakhipot 77-31. Pentagon took the lead in the first quarter 24-10 but Nakhipot made an attempt to bounce back and took a nine-point lead in the second quarter scoring 17 points. But in the last two quarters Nakhipot were able to collect only two points each while Pentagon scored 25 and 20 points. Manoj Sherchan netted 14 points for Pentagon.



Revolver saw off Nawajyoti 83-43. Revolver took a convincing lead in all quarters 26-7, 28-18, 19-12, 10-6. Utshav Chand contributed 35 points for the winning side.



Under women´s category, Prime defeated Xavier International 41-24 at Morgan´s court in Basundhara. Both team netted eight points each in the first quarter but Prime led 17-3, 13-3 in the second and third quarters to shape their victory though they trailed 3-10 in the last quarter. Nayana Shakya netted 17 points for the winning side.
