NA chopper carrying PM makes emergency landing

UDAYAPUR, June 9:  A Nepal Army (NA) Helicopter carrying caretaker Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on board had to make emergency landing at Bhulke in Udayapur district after suffering minor technical glitches on Saturday afternoon.



The prime minister was on his way to Kathmandu after making an aerial inspection of inundation caused by Saptakoshi River in bordering areas of Sunsari and Udayapur districts. [break]



He had also inspected a controversial pilot channel being constructed by India in the area, according to Chief District Officer Dinesh Bhattarai. The chopper had made emergency landing at Number 18 Brigade of the NA in Bhulke at 5 pm. The prime minister flew to Kathmandu in the evening after a MI-17 helicopter arrived to pick him up.
