KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nepali Congress (NC) leader and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sujata Koirala, did not attend the NC´s parliamentary party (PP) meeting on Saturday.
The PP had in writing asked her to appear in person at a PP meeting on Saturday and furnish clarification on her last minute decision not to accompany the prime minister to India.
She instead sent a letter to the PP saying that she could not appear before it due to her pre-scheduled programs.
Koirala had earlier said that she would not attend the PP meeting.
She also wrote that she has taken note of the concerns raised by the party over her last minute withdrawal from the bilateral visit of the prime minister.
Some of the NC lawmakers took exception to Koirala´s response, insisting that she has to appear in person to explain her conduct.
In the meeting, several lawmakers described her response as disrespect to the party. Purna Bahadur Khadka, Suparbha Ghimire, Dr. Narayan Khadka and Gagan Thapa, among other, demanded that the party took a strong action against her.
