MPRF endorses four-point deal

KATHMANDU, March 27: A meeting of the parliamentary party of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) on Sunday endorsed the four-point agreement the party´s Chairman Upendra Yadav signed with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal recently.



Though the four-point deal paved way for the party to join the government, it was not discussed in the party before its signing.[break]

 

According to Abishekh Pratap Shah, whip of the party, the meeting also decided that the party set four criteria for choosing ministers from the party.



The criteria, according to Shah, requires aspiring candidates to have been involved in Madhesh movements, disciplined and loyal to the party and should be a new face and competent.



In addition, the aspirants should be competent besides having a sound educational background.



Shah said the party´s central committee meeting, likely to take place either on Tuesday or Wednesday, will finalize the names of the candidates to join the government. Before that, the party´s political committee will send a list of possible ministerial candidates to the central committee.
