A central committee meeting of the party held at party headquarters at Sanepa on Tuesday took the decision to this effect, ending the month long rift between its Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Bhandari. The meeting also decided to terminate his general membership. [break]
"The meeting unanimously decided to expel him (Bhandari) as per the recommendation of the party disciplinary committee that found sufficient evidence of his involvement in activities against the party policy and statute," said Vice-chairman of MPRF-D Rameshwor Raya Yadav. Yadav stated that the clarification furnished by him was not satisfactory and he disobeyed the party by not appearing at the party office to furnish clarification.
Talking to Republica, Bhandari said the decision was expected. "I have taken it naturally. The party had sought clarification through a newspaper not even caring about political culture and decorum," stated Bhandari, adding, "This justifies party chairman´s highhandedness and bias."
Bhandari maintained that he would continue to fight for the cause of Madhesi, Muslim, Dalit, indigenous peoples, among others, in future.
Leaders close to Bhandari have taken strong exception to the party decision. "The party is called a democratic one, but there is an authoritarian rule of the party chairman," said Pramod Gupta, a central committee member close to Bhandari.
Another central committee member Nilam Barma said they were not invited to the Tuesday´s central committee meeting. "There are no doubts that a new party would be formed," Barma added.
