“There is only a nominal presence of Madhesi community in the national army. So, the government should start the process of recruiting Madhesi people in the NA. At least 10,000 Madhesi should be recruited in the army in the first phase,” said MPRF-D Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar at a press meet held after the conclusion of the party´s two-day central committee meeting. “Even the Indian Army has separate regiments in the name of various communities. We can also form such regiments in the NA.”
In another context, Gachchhadar expressed doubts over completion of the peace process within the extended term of the Constituent Assembly. He also warned the three major parties not to reach any agreement without consulting his party.
MPRF-D has formed a nine-member committee led by senior Vice-chairman of the party Rameshwor Raya Yadav to amend the party´s regulation in order to make it more democratic and inclusive.
