LAHAN, Oct 29: Rudra Dahal of Chandragadhi-3, Jhapa was returning to Kathmandu on his motorbike after celebrating Dashain festival.

"As I reached Kushwaha Chowk, Lahan at 9:00 am, I was stopped by some protestors. They scolded me for riding a motorbike during strike. Soon, they started hitting at my bike and then it was torched," said Dahal.

"I pleaded them for mercy, but no one was ready to listen. Despite my request, the protestors set my bike on fire," he lamented.

Dahal informed that the protestors ran away before the police reached the spot.

Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Area Police Office, Lahan, said, "We have arrested some of the suspects involved in the crime."

The Morcha has refused to take any responsibility for the incident. Satya Narayan Yadav, a Morcha advisor, said, "It is being done to defame us."

He added that there was no restriction on motorbikes during the strike. "Motorcycles have been the most popular ride here these days and such incident has never taken place before," he said.

Meanwhile, Dahal, who is in a state of shock after the incident, asked the protestors whether they would achieve their goal by burning bikes. "Will the protestors achieve all of their demands by burning down vehicles?" he asked.
