Not only are the entrepreneurs opening new hotels, they are also adding rooms in their existing hotels to accommodate more visitors. [break]
Damodar Regmi, an employee of Regional Hotel Association, Sauraha, is one among the new investors, who is busy building a new hotel in Sauraha, the gateway to Chitwan National Park. His hotel is expected to open its door from the first day of 2011.
Along with people like Regmi, established hoteliers are busy adding rooms to accommodate more visitors. Anjan Kumar Pandey is adding eight more rooms in Hotel Park Land.
Hari Bhakta Ghimire, immediate past president of Regional Hotel Association, Sauraha, has completely renovated his hotel, keeping in view the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign. “I am planning to increase number of rooms and add more facilities in my 20-room hotel,” Ghimire shared his plan.
At present, a total of 67 hotels with combined capacity of 2,000 beds are operating in Sauraha. The capacity will increase to around 2,300 beds a night when four new hotels throw open their doors.
A total of 82,500 tourists visited Chitwan National Park through Sauraha in fiscal year 2008/09. Elephant safari, jungle walk, jungle drive, canoe ride, bird watching, elephant breeding center are some of the attractions in Sauraha.
Meanwhile, entrepreneurs in Pokhara too are busy investing on new hotels in the lake city. Hari Shankar Aryal, a hotelier from Chitwan, is planning to invest Rs 70 million to open a hotel at Lake Side. He is operating hotels in Sauraha and Bardiya.
“I chose Pokhara to open new hotel as it is developing new attractions for tourists,” Aryal said.
Krishna Thapa, another hotelier from Chitwan, is also investing Rs 25 million to open a new hotel in the lake city, considering rising tourism prospects there.
