The organization started its phase-wise protests on August 23, demanding that benefits for teachers in private schools on a par with government schools, transparency in appointment of auditors and an end to hiring of unnecessary teachers, among others.
Alleging that authorities were not serious about addressing the demands, the organization´s central member and Morang in-charge Bikash Neupane said the schools would remain closed unless the demands were met.
The Madhesi Teachers´ Forum Nepal has also thrown its weight behind the protests.
