KATHMANDU, July 20: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast moderate rainfall in several parts of the country on Sunday as monsoon conditions remain active across Nepal.
According to the MFD, the monsoon system is currently affecting the entire country, with the monsoon trough positioned north of its average location.
Most parts of the country are experiencing generally cloudy conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is currently occurring in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and at a few locations in Sudurpaschim Province.
Light to moderate rainfall likely in some parts of the country...
During the day, generally cloudy conditions are expected nationwide. A few places in the Himalayan region are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, with chances of snowfall in higher elevations. Many places in the hilly region are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
Similarly, many places in the Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few places in Madhesh Province, are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The division has also forecast heavy rainfall at a few places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces and at one or two places in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
For tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist across the country. A few places in the Himalayan region are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Many places in Madhesh Province and the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with a few places in the hilly areas of Karnali Province, are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.
The MFD has further forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
