Mayanka of Rupy´s International earned a hard fought 9-7 win over Ira Rawat of Pennwood to secure a place in the final. She will next meet Anne Mathema of Ullen´s, who defeated her sister Mahika 8-5.[break]
Mahika, however, made it to the final of the U-14 girls´ singles after her opponent, Bijisa Joshi of DAV, gave a walkover. She will face Bibhuti Karki of St Xavier´s in the final. Karki saw off Anne Mathema 6-4, 7-5 to advance into the final.
Ganga Sharma of Mahendra School, Pokhara, set a final showdown with Manjita Nyochhan of St Xavier´s in the U-18 girls´ singles. Sharma defeated Suchita Satyal of St Xavier´s 6-1, 6-0 while Nyochhan beat Kripa Sharma of Pacific School 6-0, 7-6 in their respective semifinal matches.
In the U-9 girls´ singles, Abhilasha Bista of St Xavier´s and Nima Rokaya of LA won their respective matches to secure their places in the final.
In the boys´ singles of the same age group, Adit Subedi of St Xavier´s defeated Aki Juben Rawat of Penwood 10-0, 10-5 to set up title clash with Sushant Kuikel of Grand Academy. Kuikel edged out Piyush Singh of LA 10-8, 11-9.
Samyak Bhushan Bajracharya of Shuvatara and Swaraj KC of LA won their respective semifinal matches of the U-10 boys´ singles to advance into the final. Bajracharya also made it into the final of the U-12 boys´ singles defeating Nabin Joshi of LA 8-3.
The British School´s Ivanhoe Lissanevitch, having already secured a place in the final of U-16 boys´ singles, also made it into the final of the U-18 boys´ singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Suman Karki. He will lock horns with Ganesh Karki of National Tennis Centre, who beat Akshaya Karki of Kendriya Vidyalaya 6-1, 7-5.
The finals will be held on Friday and Saturday, according to LA´s tennis coach Rameshwar Thapa.
