UDAYAPUR, Sept 16: The age of a girl, who just joined the teenage club, is 54 now due to the sheer negligence of her school in Udayapur district.

Maiya Katawal (14) of Aaptari passed this year´s SLC exam from Pashupati Secondary School. But in the mark sheet, her date of birth has been mentioned as March 15, 1956. Maiya is loosing her sleep due to the school´s blunder. She went to the Purvanchal Regional Education Directorate twice to rectify the mistaken age, but to no avail.

Her brother Kamal Katawal said they have a recommendation letter from the District Administration Office to make the correction. "However, the education directorate states that the age cannot be changed now," he said.

When the matter was taken to the District Education Office, an official, Karna Banset, said it should have been corrected before her registration form was sent to the Exam Controller´s Office. Now it´s too late, he said.
