Mishra,Dhakal bag Ramadevi Pathak Puraskar

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: US-based Sarita Pathak Academy has announced to award this year’s Ramadevi Pathak Patrakarita Puraskar to Rabindra Mishra, editor of BBC Nepali Service, for his contribution on Nepalese press for the past two decades.



Issuing a statement on Thursday, the Tanka Prasad Ramadevi Pathak Journalism award selection committee headed by senior journalist Gokul Prasad Pokhrel announced the award. Mishra will be honored with the award, which carries cash prize $2,000. [break]

Similarly, the organization has announced to award this years’ Tankaprasad Ramadevi Pathak Patrakarita Sadhana Puraskar to Jhapa-based journalist Madan Dhakal.



Dhakal (Editor of Purbanchal Dainik) has been contributing in journalism for the past four decades. The award carries cash prize $500.

Journalists Tirtha Koirala, Jibendra Simkhada and representative of the Hem Sarita Pathak Academy, Parshuram Pathak, were members of the award selection committee.



The committee has said that the awards will be handed over in Kathmandu amidst a special ceremony in April, 2014 on the occasion of Nepalese New Year celebration.



The award was established by US-based Nepali entrepreneur Hem Prasad Pathak.
