BIRGUNJ, Sept 4: Sano Paila, an organization dedicated to community building in socially marginalized and impoverished regions of Nepal, has condemned the growing involvement of children in political protests in the Tarai region.

A report made public by the organization on Friday imputes both the protestors as well as the state for breaching human rights. The report prepared by Sano Paila after monitoring the situation in Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Dhanusha and Saptari districts show that both the protestors and the state forces have obstructed ambulances and disrupted operations of schools and hospitals.

The report also claims the extensive use of children in political protests has resulted in injuries to minors.

These activities are against child rights and are punishable under the law.

"It is unethical to violate the rights of someone else for the sake of one's own rights," said Kanchan Jha, CEO of Sano Paila, in a statement. The organization also called on the concerned parties to create peaceful environment for running schools and hospitals.
