Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Minister Bista at a ceremony.[break]
Minister Bista had not participated in the swearing-in ceremony along with other newly-appointed ministers because he sustained injuries when an unidentified gang assaulted him on April 11, the day he was appointed minister.
He was discharged from the Manmohan Memorial Hospital where he was receiving treatment on Wednesday. He received injuries to his head and left hand in the attack and his left hand could be seen still bandaged.
Talking briefly to journalists after taking oath, Minister Bista expressed commitment enforce the government’s policy of reducing the energy crisis. He said he would accord priority to the campaign of freeing the people from power outage.
Vice President Parmananda Jha, Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, ministers, chiefs of the constitutional bodies and high-level government officials were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
