At a news conference organised here today, Chairman of the Economic Journalists Society, Pradeep Chapagain, said that the conference is going to be organized with the purpose of informing the people about the investment of micro finance across the nation, micro finance´s role in poverty alleviation and importance of the micro finance.[break]
The conference is going to be held for the third time in the country under the slogan ´Socially responsible and sustainable micro finance.´
The conference is going to be organised jointly by the Centre for Micro Finance-Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank, Micro-Finance Bankers´ Association, Plan Nepal, Poverty Alleviation Fund, RMDC, Save the Children, Small Farmers´ Bank, Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, among others.
Discussion will be held on 43 working papers in the conference.Former Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, said that the discussion will identify problems, challenges and further possibilities in the micro finance sector and plans to guide policy makers and stakeholders of the sector.
It is expected that some 800 people including policy makers, practitioners, promoters, students, micro-finance experts and representatives of development agencies, NGOs and INGOs, among others, will participate in the conference.
Some 1.8 million people have been taking direct benefit from different micro finance providing organizations in the country, it is learnt.
