Melamchi remains tense over arrest

CHAUTARA, Aug 27: Melamchi Pool Bazaar area remained tensed on Thursday after the police arrested six locals for the investigation on the charge of being involved in a murder case from Melamchi, Sindhupalchowk. Locals have protested demanding action against the murderer and the police intervention. [break]



Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar Kharel informed that separate teams of police force have been mobilized from the district headquarters Chautara and other areas for bringing the situation under normalcy.



Those arrestees are Ishwor Shrestha, Sharada Shrestha, Niranjan Shrestha, Sudershan Shrestha of Melamchi-2, Sangam Magar, a resident of Melamchi who originally hails from Rolpa, and Narayan Shrestha of Dubachaur-2, police said.



Bishnu Tamang of Dubachaur-2 was beaten to death on 24 August on the charge of stealing an empty drum of local Ishwor Shresha. Likewise, Chandra Bahadur Tamang and Bir Bahadur Tamang were also beaten the same day on the same charge.



Body of murdered Tamang was found on 25 August whereas the condition of Chandra Bahadur Tamang is still unknown.



DSP Kharel said deceased´s family has denied receiving the body though postmortem was done. He said police have been searching Tamang.
