NEPALGUNJ, Feb 2: Former prime minister and senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal accused that the UCPN (Maoist) were trying to divide the country.

Speaking at a program organized by Press Chautari in Nepalgunj, Nepal said the Maoists were trying to impose authoritarian rule in the country. “They have destroyed democracy, national freedom and good governance in the country", he said.[break]

Referring to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s comment to drag the opposition to Constituent Assembly elections in the way cattle are dragged, the veteran leader said that Bhattarai was in no position to do so. “We dragged them from jungle and India, he (Bhattarai) don’t deserve to drag us.”

He also blamed the Maoists on trying to evade the elections as they fear loss after the party split.
