Terming the present coalition a total failure in expediting the constitution writing and taking the peace process to a logical end, the Maoist party claimed that dissolution of the government had become crucial for ensuring timely promulgation of the constitution and conclusion of the peace process. "The party´s politburo meeting scheduled for April 14 will come up with specific strategies for the dissolution of the government," party spokesman Dinanath Sharma said after the meeting at the party´s head office at Koteshwar. He informed that the politburo will decide whether to go for a no-confidence motion or seek some other strategy against the government.
The Maoists have claimed that the present government has lost its moral grounds for continuing in office, following ´exposure´ over the machine readable passports (MRP) deal with India.
"The MRP row has proved that the government had reached an anti-national deal with India. The present coalition no longer has moral grounds to be given continuity," Sharma said. The Maoists also described the cancellation of the deal as the people´s victory over a conspiracy against the nation.
The party likewise decided to stage mass demonstrations on April 22 and on May 1 nationwide.
Last month, the Maoists had to abort their move to topple the government through a no-confidence motion after they failed to garner enough support from other political parties.
