KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament was prorogued on Monday as lawmakers of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) obstructed the House proceedings yet again. The House will sit on Tuesday.

The Maoist lawmakers have been obstructing the parliament, demanding debate on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s step to reinstate army chief, who was sacked by then Maoist-led government, in the parliament.

"We will give a new height to the ongoing struggle for civilian supremacy both in the parliament and the streets," Maoist lawmaker Agni Sapkota said addressing the parliament immediately after Speaker Subas Nembang started the meeting.

The House was prorogued as all the Maoist lawmakers shouted slogans and picketed the rostrum immediately after Sapkota´s speech.
