The land is registered in Angdembe´s wife´s name. His family currently resides in Ilam. His properties in Panchthar, where variety of plants were grown, was being looked after by a local, Bhagiman Mukhiya. [break]
Angdembe´s son, Deepraj, said that the Maoists have no reason to capture the land belonging to his family. Claiming that the Maoist move was unnecessary, he said that the intruders have not said as to why they have captured the land.
On the other hand, the Phidim village committee in-charge of the Maoist Hemkarna Karki and 5 number area committee sub-in-charge Mahendra Nembang claimed that the land has been captured owing to some disputes.
Panchthar banda
Meanwhile, the indefinite strike called by the Kirat Janawadi Workers´ Party starting Sunday in Panchthar severely affected people of the area.
The party called the banda demanding release of its cadres arrested last Wednesday from Phidim. The police arrested and later filed public offense case against them.
All routes, including the main road from Phidim to Ilam and Jhapa, remained shut. The schools, industries and shops also remained closed due to the banda.
