KATHMANDU, April 25: The Unified CPN (Maoist) boycotted Sunday’s meeting of the legislative-parliament in protest of the appointment of the members of the constitutional bodies.

Maoists’ deputy parliamentary party leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, while speaking at the parliament, said that they disapprove the appointment of members at various constitutional bodies by a meeting of the Constitutional Council not attended by the leader of main opposition party. [break]

The CC on Friday recommended names of chiefs and members in four constitutional bodies to end the long vacuum those bodies. The meeting was not attended by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is a CC member in capacity of the leader of main opposition.

Shrestha also added that the boycott is also for the government’s reluctance to correspond with the United Nations for the term extension of UN Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and against the ‘conspiracy being hatched to suppress Maoists’ scheduled protest on May 1.’

The parliament was adjourned after the boycott.
