In 2061 BS, Mukesh´s elder brother, Manoj was arrested by army personnel on suspicion of his involvement in the armed insurgency. Seven years on, his whereabouts still remains undisclosed. Manoj´s father Ugranarayan, unable to come to terms with the loss of his son, died two years later. Mukesh´s mother has been unable to regain consciousness after her son´s death and the pall of gloom has descended on the entire neighborhood.

According to a local Ramchandra Das, three motorbikes were parked near the spot where Mukesh was killed. “But the motorbikes were nowhere to be seen after the bullets were fired," Das said.

Locals have raised questions over security situation in the district as this is second such murder in a fortnight. Moreover, the District Police Office is just 400 meters from the spot where Mukesh was shot dead and a large number of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel to ensure security during the festival.
