KATHMANDU, April 16: The politburo meeting of the Unified CPN (Maoist) on Friday decided not to table the no-confidence motion at the legislative-parliament against the government.

Instead of the no-confidence motion, the largest party in the parliament has decided to begin a strong movement against the government starting April 22.[break]

According to chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the meeting has decided to work out for a national unity government as the present government had completely failed and would only impact negatively on constitution writing and peace process.

The Maoists will hold mass meetings nationwide on April 22 to mark Lenin Day and a ‘huge’ mass meeting in Kathmandu on May 1.

Dahal also added that the Maoists would not agree for extension of the term of the Constituent Assembly under present government. He also challenged the statements from Nepali Congress and CPM-UML indicating that Maoists had been obstruction for constitution.

“We fought for constitution,” he said while adding that the other parties were trying to cover up their weakness by accusing Maoists.

The party chairman also reiterated that all the Maoist combatants should be integrated.

According to Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, the meeting took the decision concluding that a majority government would not be able to solve the present problems. “So, there is a need for a national unity government,” Sharma added.
